Two central themes prevail in my work: the habits and personalities of the birds and the landscapes of the homes they live in. The natural habitats and timelines expose as much beauty and secrets as the birds themselves.

A word from Shirley Moore Leago about this painting
Shadow play caused by the palm fronds and the Jaguar that is like a shadow himself moving in and out of the moonlight. The patterns on his back and the shadows moving across the back of the great cat camouflage him in the tropical foliage of the night. The black cat drinks from a small stream and then he lifts his head and listens for what? Does he see something or is he simply surveyiing his domain for any possible intruder. Possibly he may be looking at you. He is so silent, so sleek, and so like a shadow. He is the most elusive of the three big cats and the most rare. He is stockier and has a more powerful jaw than a leopard. The Jaguar is found in South America, when you can catch a glimpse of him.
